![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve added the date to the Watch List calendar and will have a page up on the site later. You are thrust onto the frozen wasteland that is. Thanks to everyone who pointed out the news on the shutdown. Scavengers, from Seattle-based studio Midwinter Entertainment, is a PvEvP third-person shooter survival game with elements of battle royale. Unable or unwilling to bring the Scavengers IP over to Behaviour Interactive, the Midwinter Entertainment team has been working on a new unannounced title within the studio. As Herman Narula, CEO and co-founder of Improbable, stated in a press release on the acquisition, “as part of our announced focus on the metaverse Improbable announced the divestment of its non metaverse focused content teams at the start of the year”. Just after Scavengers launched in Early Access the company sold its development studio, Midwinter Entertainment, to Behaviour Interactive. While counts had slid below 100 active daily players on Steam earlier this year, the decision to shut down the game is more directly related to Improbable’s pivot into creating for the metaverse. ![]() But for now… Scavengers Announcement – November 10, 2022 We look forward to updating you all on what’s next for Improbable, and we hope you’ll join us wherever that journey takes us next. Finally, it’s for us to say thank you to the team, our partners, and everyone else who has supported us along the way. We hope you can join us in the snow to give Scavengers the thrilling sendoff it deserves. We thank you for taking this journey with us.īefore we bid farewell to Cascade Springs, we wanted to spend the next few weeks celebrating your time with us. Your passion, dedication and support for Scavengers has been nothing short of extraordinary. We’re all proud of what we accomplished, and are grateful to every player who took the time to play, even if it was just for a short while.įrom the very start of development, we wanted to create a unique, team-focused strategic online shooter experience that we built alongside our community. The last few months have seen a decline in the playerbase, and whilst we explored many options to reinvigorate server population while the game is in early access, it became clear that it was unsustainable to continue development and live service. We have made the difficult decision to shut the game down on December 16, 2022. We have an update for Scavengers but it is one that we share with a heavy heart. We have been quiet for a while now, and firstly we just want to apologize for that. The invite-only alpha versions of the game for PlayStation and Xbox platforms were apparently retired earlier this year. The game was removed from Steam on the same day but appears to still be available on the Epic Games Store. Money being ultimately the thing they're after with this being a free to play game, otherwise this will just end up like Hounds which I listed above and as I mentioned is the game that got shutdown. The current team at Improbable announced late last week that the Early Access release of Scavengers on Steam and the Epic Games Store would be shutting down on December 16th. Sure I know you guys would enjoy the PvE mode for a brief period but you'd be lying if you told me it would hold you a long time or that it would motivate you to spend money on the game. I never asked or wanted the inputs to be changed. I almost quit when they modified the controller inputs. Anyone remember when they first started doing changed based on Discord users feedback? Those of us in these forums hated those changes but they probably believed most people wanted those changes since most of them in the Discord were asking for it. Y'all believe to be true what you see based on a small sample of the whole thing. "BuT alL oF Us In THe ThREaD arE AsKINg fOR co-Op" These fulfilling online experiences thread through our daily lives, enriching multiplayer games, live interactive events, entertainment and social spaces. They would have to completely redesign the AI which to make a good one is a massive undertaking and some of the failed games above had good AIs and still no one plays them. I can say for a fact that nothing in the games current state would yield a PvE experience people would actually enjoy for more than a few matches or over the coarse of a few days. but not every game is ever gonna be that big. You guys can list all the huge shooter co-op PvE games you want like Pay Day, Left4Dead, Killing Floor, Destiny, etc. In Scavengers, an asteroid has shattered the Moon, rendering the Earth frozen. While its story is somewhat convoluted, it lays the framework for its distinct style of gameplay. It's a PvEvP but unlike Scav has a dedicated PvE mode but no one cares about the game. Upcoming multiplayer shooter Scavengers looks to do this as well, implementing ideas not just from earlier battle royales but from MOBAs and survival games, too. Second set maintain about 700 players but two of the four have an established IP behind them.Ĭould of added Synced to the list but it's in beta although it's more similar to Scav than all these others. ![]() Here are all your super successful PVE co-op shooters bros:įirst set is literal who games none of y'all probably ever heard of. ![]()
